Reuben Quesadilla
Here at Clancy's, we keep trying new ideas in the kitchen. Some of the ideas come about from mistakes, not our mistake but those of our supplies of course. As example, our new Reuben Quesadilla, we asked one of our distributors for our quesadilla flat bread and he sends us this new Flatout Bread from a company out of Saginaw. Well the thought was... lets see what might become of this Michigan product. Some of Louie's (Traverse City's own) corn beef, three slices of Swiss cheese and Clancy's home made Thousand Island dressing (made with olives not pickle relish) grilled together with some sour kraut... oh my goodness. If Reubens are your cup of tea, you'll like ours. It is darn good... Then you have to give it on Flatout's flat bread a taste test.
Cherry-Berry Cobbler
Our Cherry-berry Cobbler is turning out to be a favorite as well. We did not have enough cherries one day when we needed a cobbler made. Next thing we know a Cherry-berry Cobbler is born. Cherries and blue berries with an oatmeal base... We do not use instant oatmeal here, it is the real deal. You can tell the difference in our cobbler, our Signature Pancakes and just our oatmeal breakfast. You do know breakfast is available all day, right? We do. Oatmeal for dinner with a cobbler for dessert...? Why not? At Clancy's... it is the way you want it, when you want it. PS. Don't forget that Reuben Quesadilla to go.
Tea "Healthier" Drink Than Water
Drinking three or more cups of tea a day is as good for you as drinking plenty of water and may even have extra heath benefits say researchers. Tea not only rehydrates as well as water does, but it can also protect against heart disease and some cancers, UK nutritionists found. Experts believe flavonoids are the key ingredient in tea that promotes health. These polyphenol antioxidants are found in many foods and plants, including tea leaves, and have been shown to help prevent cell damage.
Public health nutritionist Dr Carrie Ruxton, and colleagues at Kings College London, looked at published studies on the health effects of tea consumption. They found clear evidence that drinking three to four cups of tea a day can cut the chances of having a heart attack. Some studies suggested tea consumption protected against cancer, although this effect was less clear-cut. Other health benefits seen included protection against tooth plaque and potentially tooth decay, plus bone strengthening. Dr Ruxton said: "Drinking tea is actually better for you than drinking water. Water is essentially replacing fluid. Tea replaces fluids and contains antioxidants so it's got two things going for it."
"Also, a cup of tea contains fluoride, which is good for the teeth," she added. The Tea Council provided funding for the work. Dr Ruxton stressed that the work was independent.
Clancy's Kitchen is collecting can goods and non-perishable items for a local food bank. Bring in a donation and receive a free drink with your breakfast, lunch or dinner. (Family of four, four cans of things not used in the cupboard... save over 10% on your meals by having drinks on "the Dude")
We look at not only the healthy aspect of the food we make, but also the cost factors. Over half of our menu is less than it was when we opened. We also have smaller portions to fit all appetites and budgets. Something we overlooked when we first opened. Did we miss anything? Let us know!
